A Message From Our Chancellor, Dr. Joel M. Rodney
I am sure that you have fond memories of your time at Penn State York, and we want to help you create even more good experiences through continued involvement with your Alma Mater. We have many programs and activities open to the community and want to issue a special invitation to our Penn State friends and alumni to join us on campus for these programs.
You can play a more active role in the life of your campus by becoming a professional mentor to interested students. Penn State York faculty members want to engage students in undergraduate research, in community projects, and particularly in real world experiences such as internships that you can help to provide. Together --alumni, friends, faculty and staff-- we make an excellent team for our students.
Penn State York has always prided itself on the diversity of its students, faculty and staff. That is even truer today, for we have students and faculty from more than thirty countries. Our students, faculty and staff come to campus with a wide range of opinions, experiences, values and perspectives, and this variety in turn gives our students the perspective that they need to work and live in the reality of America and the world in the twenty-first century.
I'm also pleased to welcome our many community friends of Penn State York to this Web site. On behalf of all of us on the campus, I want to thank you for your strong and constant support of every aspect of our operations. That support has truly provided a margin of excellence that has allowed us to make sure that our faculty and staff are able to remain on the cutting edge of developments in their respective disciplines, that we are able to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for student researchers, and that we are able to award more than $300,000 in scholarships each year to help keep the cost of a Penn State education as affordable as possible.
I am delighted that all of you have continued to be interested in Penn State York. If you have any questions about the campus, my office is always open to alumni and friends of the campus community. You can reach me by phone at 717-771- 4120, by e-mail at jmr45@psu.edu, or in person by calling Brenda Stine, my staff assistant, at 771-4120 to schedule an appointment.
