Playwriting Competition Deadline set for Dec. 11

Attention student playwrights, Penn State York’s Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) and the Penn State York Theatre Program are sponsoring the second annual playwriting competition. The competition is open to Penn State York students enrolled for fall 2009. Plays of 10-30 minutes are being accepted. Prizes of $250 for first prize, $150 for second prize, and $100 for third prize, are being awarded with a possible production or reading by the Penn State York Theatre Program in spring 2010.

Deadline for submissions is Dec. 11 and scripts should be submitted to Stuart Stelly, instructor in English and director of the Penn State York Theatre Program, in room 118, The Pullo Center. Entrants should follow standard play script format. Please contact Stelly at tss11@psu.edu for complete rules and script format.

Last year’s winners were Rebecca Blakeslee for Almost the Weekend and Megan Shawver for Liar, Liar. The winning plays were staged by Penn State York theatre students in spring 2009.
